Am I the Only Person Not Scared of a Bit of Snow?!

Hi there!

I had a very lazy couple of days, but did manage to get some stitching done! Though I’ll get to that in a minute.

Something struck me yesterday, the south of the UK is currently experiencing a somewhat delayed winter, in the sense December was quite unseasonably warm. It briefly snowed here in Sussex, though quickly turned to rain (though ice of course remains). What made me smile, was the panic that ensued, quite soon after we heard of the imminent arrival of the dreaded white stuff!!

Now I personally, have relied on my feet as my predominant form of transport forever, I have never really wanted to drive, and though I am grateful that OH drives, and of course members of my family, it still amuses me that when something such as snow or ice occurs, people who drive freak out! Now I understand for example that OH needs his car to get to work all week, and bad weather will affect his journey. My Grandparents however, both retired, and the fact today is a Sunday, still complained that the bad weather will stop them doing anything today! Is it wrong that I just think to myself – ‘Oh well, just relax for a day then!’

Honestly, a little bit of snow, doesn’t halt other countries with a mere couple of inches! In fact, I woke this morning to find, the snow had quickly turned to rain, and there wasn’t even ice – so everything is fine anyway! Then again, I just view a snow day, as a day I can get more stitching done!

Ok, ok, that leads me back out of the rant, and onto the topic at hand, cross-stitching!

I did bring some patterns with me, in the hope I’d still be a bit motivated to do something whilst I was here visiting family, and so far I have managed to complete this Little Miss Naughty pattern:

I think she came out rather well! I’ve had a few Mr Men and Little Miss patterns I’ve wanted to stitch for ages now, and thought I’d bring them as they were quite simple blocks of colour really, and it meant I didn’t have to bring so many different threads with me! So, I wonder if I will manage to get the other three patterns stitched whilst I am here! I do like them, something nice, bright and cheerful to brighten up the cold wintery days!

I’d like to take a quick moment to say “Hi” to my newest followers! You’re very welcome to get involved and comment away – I don’t mind if you chat amongst yourselves! (That goes for everyone by the way). And do check out the Facebook Page and “like” it, share your creativity, post pics, chat, advertise your blogs (no spamming though)! And enjoy yourselves! Any suggestions welcome!

I hope you have a lovely day, and are keeping warm!

Happy Crafting!

I agree! I’m in the North of the UK and the snow we had last night stuck. We have around 3.5″ and so far I was driving in it last night and at 7 this morning. The main roads are very well gritted and clear so it’s just a case – as you say – of taking a little extra time and care. Nothing life threateningly serious. Love you Little Miss :)
