Bold Blooms Nears Completion

Hi there!

Hope you had a good, productive weekend! I feel really bad that I haven’t posted for a bit, I know my ABC layout is way overdue (I’ll get there I promise) I did finish it, and then decided I really wasn’t happy with it, so I’ve started again! So I’ll post that on Wednesday, and other than that I have mostly been planning ahead with all the projects I want to work on after I’ve finished with Bold Blooms! (I’ve got a list and everything!) I also had to order more aida (eBay) this week, so it’s been a somewhat administrative week, but these things have to happen sometime!

Today though I have a big (ish) cross-stitch update,  Bold Blooms is now all but complete! I just have to do the backstitching and go through my bead stash to find the right colour seed beads to replace the millions of (31) french knots in the pattern. If there were less I may have attempted to do them but for that many it seemed unlikely I wouldn’t ruin it, so beads it is!

So here it is so far:

I’ve been loving at hating this in a loop throughout the stitching, but I’ve decided I like it, I was thinking yesterday as I finished it off, that I wouldn’t mind doing this again, but replacing the green with blue… maybe I will one day! I love the dimension this piece has, considering there aren’t many colours involved (7 including the backstitching I haven’t done). It leaves lots of scope to be customised to fit in with your own decor.

I have a feeling this will be finished tomorrow if my plans for this afternoon work out, I then want to find a nice frame, though I’m still not sure if I’m keeping it, or giving it as a gift.

It’s been a nice project to work on though, the sections make it feel like I’ve made progress quickly, which has kept it interesting and not led to my getting bored with it, which is why I’ve managed to get it done in such good time. As I’ve worked on it, I’ve been picking a colour, and working the stitching in that way, so completing it has been more fulfilling than working on a piece with loads of just one colour (that last Mr Men stitch I still have to finish comes to mind). Not to mention it’s nice to look at generally!

You won’t be seeing any more of it for a couple of days now, until it’s all finished, ironed and framed, unless you visit the Facebook Page and I may post a little sneaky peek in the meantime! While there you can also check out the other stuff from the blog, in tidy little albums. You can even drop me a line, ask a question and share anything you’ve been working on as well (so well worth a visit)!

Hope you have a great Monday whatever you’re up to!

Happy Crafting!

    • I’m not a big fan of green either! I think I might give this one as a present, and maybe in time I’ll make another one for me… though my list is full enough at the moment so it won’t be for a while!

  1. This is looking so cute!! I see how you would be able to incorporate lots of different colors instead of the ones that it calls for. Maybe you can do a few other ones in different colors then frame them and hang them together!! Like variations of each other, I think that’d look pretty cool. :-)
