ABC Book of Me – A Challenge 11 & 12

Hi there!

A little late, but a vast improvement! Today I will be sharing 2 pages from the ABC Book of Me challenge.

I’ve been having a think the last couple of weeks, and having read through the remaining challenges in Cut Loose: Break the Rules of Scrapbooking, I have decided that from this point I will stop adding those to the alphabet challenge. I would however still recommend the book to people interested in scrapbooking,  because it really does help you to “think outside the box” which is always fun! It has some great tips on layouts, photos and embellishments and I’m sure I will return to the book in the future, at the moment though, I feel I am at a point, I have enough ideas in my head to be getting on with!

So… For those of you who don’t know, this is an ongoing scrapbooking challenge, open to everyone.

A reminder:

Challenge: Part 10

Letter: J

Challenge: Create a page, with all the page elements placed on the same angle.

I chose Jobs (which is a little funny considering I’m not working at the moment, but hey)!

I haven’t completely finished with the layout, I want to add a couple more embellishments, but I haven’t had time to go through my stash and find other relevant peel-offs for that space on the left (I’m using up a lot of odds and ends here, which is also a bonus!) The green triangle opens into a square, in which I have written about jobs I have had etc, not very exciting, but something to look back on in the future!

The photo was a bit more fun! I am a hoarder, and this of course includes my name badges from most of my jobs. Along with a couple of other things it made for quite an interesting photo. And it was quite fun going through my box of mementos to find them!

I also received a layout from Nicky (check out her amazing blog here)! Who also went with the job theme:

I adore the colours in this, and the papers used are simply fab! I’ve reached the point I look forward to Nicky’s emails, there’s always something great to see, though she’s still keeping me on my toes (not to mention when I haven’t finished in time, for example this is from a recent email “Now get your I layout sorted missy, you’re not that far behind!!!”) I am lucky to have found someone in internet land like her, I may well have given up on this project if it wasn’t for the fact Nicky kept up with it all (I say kept up, she’s ahead of me most of the time)!

The next letter, which I would have posted two weeks ago (but I neglected to post for a while) would be K. It was at this point I decided to stop using the book, and just create the next 14 layouts myself.

Challenge: Part 11

Letter: K

For my K layout, I went with:

This was quite good fun, I had the sheet music cardstock in my stash, (no doubt we shall see it again soon) and I really liked the idea of playing on the “I was named after a song” thing, so I found an old picture of me (I was about 5/6 months old there), made an envelope and actually put a copy of the song onto CD for future generations to enjoy(!) (I personally can’t stand the song, but hey!) I then added a little bit of info, and there we have a layout!

I also received a layout from Nicky almost a month ago now (You can check out the blog post here ) This one totally made me smile: Such a fun layout! Not to mention a brilliant costume!

Challenge: Part 12

Letter: L

So yeah, very simple, if you want to join in, you can go back to the beginning if you want to! Or you can pick a letter at random and work from there! If you email me, I will even add you to the post! My contact info is in the comments section for emailing to include on this blog!

A reminder:

I would appreciate if people would link back to me, and also credit the book if you are taking part and posting your progress online.

Closing for submissions to the blog will be the day before the next challenge is posted so, I will (attempt) to post part 13 on the 4th of June, so please get any submissions to me by the 3rd if possible!!

I have also created an album for the whole project on the thisisthecraftyone FACEBOOK PAGE, so feel free to hop on over, and hit “like” whilst checking out photos of all the things I’ve made, and shared on the blog!

 Have a fab day!

Happy Crafting!

ABC Book of Me – A Challenge (10)

Hi there!

So, a little late with this, I have been working on quite a few things, but I’m totally disorganised this week!

It’s Scrapbooking challenge day once again!  And we’re up to I (as in I don’t have my layout done yet)

For those of you who don’t know, this is an ongoing scrapbooking challenge, open to everyone, using the ABC book idea, adding challenges from Crystal Jeffrey Rieger’s Cut Loose (Break the Rules of Scrapbooking).

Challenge: Plan a scrapbook page that combines a bold patterned paper with a simple design.

I know what I will be doing for this layout, I just haven’t quite got there yet! So I will add it in when I’ve done it! Joys of having quite a busy week, and I have loads to do! I have a plan drawn up, and now would just like a couple of hours to get to it! There just aren’t enough hours in the day at the moment!

However I do have a layout from Nicky (check out her blog HERE, she does loads of amazing scrapbooking and some other papercrafts, I’d totally recommend checking it out!)

Here is her I layout:

ABC Book of Me – A Challenge (9)

Hi there!

What an awful morning to wake up to today, heavy rain and gale force winds! And to top it all I have a bit of a cold, and need to go out later! Still hopefully it won’t last too long, and then sun will return! (Wishful thinking perhaps?)

It’s Scrapbooking challenge day once again! I can’t believe we’re all the way to H!

Challenge: Part 8

Letter: H

Challenge: Use one short message that acts as both a title and your journalling on a scrapbook page.

I enjoyed this one. It was fun seeing the change (or lack thereof) in how I looked over time:

(Hair to Dye For 02-12 – a little artistic licence here, as there are a few gaps in time not on the page!)

There were a lot of things involved though, mostly deciding how to go about making the page, unfortunately I was working with different sized photos and yes, as much as I could have gone through the long task of scanning all pictures into my computer, resizing and then printing, it all seemed a little too time consuming! So I found the photos, printed them (love that our printer has a photocopier that can do photos onto photo paper!) and cropped them as necessary! I added some embellishments (stick on flowers, bows, some scissors cut out of shiny paper and a butterfly, finished with a tiny butterfly hairclip holding a card to the back of the page with some info on it and a little bit of journalling!)

For those curious among you, starting at the top from L-R:

Blonde in 2008, bald in 2006/2007 (shaved my head for charity), mid/long black hair 2010-present, curly short (naturally) brown hair early 2008, me at 16 with long red hair, 2009 with natural brown hair again and short brown hair in 2007 when it was growing back!

I also received a layout from Nicky (check out her blog HERE for loads of fab layouts and papery goodness)

I adore this  - totally love the frame!

ABC Book of Me – A Challenge (8)

Hi there!

Hope it’s less rainy where you are! I’m off out soon, but before I go, I wanted to post this quickly!

It’s Scrapbooking challenge day once again, for those of you who don’t know, this is an ongoing scrapbooking challenge, open to everyone, using the ABC book adding challenges from Crystal Jeffrey Rieger’s Cut Loose (Break the Rules of Scrapbooking) book.

Challenge: Part 7

Challenge: Create a page for artistic expression

Here’s my layout

Again I haven’t got the photos sorted in time, I have a box in the loft, and the 2 pictures I want to use are there, but I need to scan and print them as I don’t want to use the originals, I’ll be doing that when I have a little more time on my hands!

I love the way this layout turned out though. I couldn’t decide what to do, and then I found this lettering in my stash, and decided to use it as the theme of my layout, using motifs from the letters and continuing them throughout the page! It was very difficult to photograph as everything is glossy metallic, and very reflective! I did the best I could though! It all looks a bit plain at the moment, but of course the photos will take up a lot of that blank space!

I also received a layout from Miss Nicky! Here’s her layout:

Check out her blog here for more info on the layout, I think she’s excelled herself this time, it is such a truly beautiful page! On Nicky’s blog, you will also see other papercraft and scrapbooking projects, which are awesome!

So, what’s in store next month?

ABC Book of Me – A Challenge (7)

Hi there!

It feels like ages! I lost the crafting bug for a little while there, but thought it best not to force anything! I have however found myself back in the spirit of things again, and have been busy catching up -

Today though, is a post I should have done yesterday (so we’re a day out)

It’s Scrapbooking challenge day once again, for those of you who don’t know, this is an ongoing scrapbooking challenge, open to everyone, using the ABC book adding challenges from Crystal Jeffrey Rieger’s Cut Loose (Break the Rules of Scrapbooking) book.

Before I set the challenge for part 7, I would like to share a couple of pages with you. Here is a quick reminder of the set challenge:

Letter: F

Challenge: Create a page with a small photo on top of a busy patterned paper.

Here’s my layout:

I couldn’t find a patterned paper I liked, so I did my usual thing, of doing it myself instead! As you can see my topic is “Friends” and this is a recent photo of me and two of my best friends, who I don’t see very often now (I live over 200 miles from them) but I met up with them in February. I may well add some more to this page, in the way of embellishments, but I couldn’t find anything in my stash that looked right! Any excuse for some shopping!

I also received a layout from Miss Nicky! Who as I said last month is amazing, she’s a month ahead every time, and is keeping me very motivated and making me work harder on my layouts every month! So, thanks! Here’s her layout: Check out her blog here for more info on the layout, which is again totally beautiful!

To see more of Nicky’s work, check out her blog. Definitely recommended if you’re into paper crafts! Her work is brilliant!
