Square 20 Complete

Hi there!

Back to the christmas crafting, and now we have just over 6 weeks to go! Less than that if the Advent Calendar makes it! And it IS getting there I promise! Though I am still a little nervous about getting on that sewing machine, and it is looming ever closer!

Here we have Square 20, and though simple, I adore it! This was originally a silhouette pattern, so I accented the antlers and hooves of the reindeer in gold, though left colour to a minimum. I love how it turned out!

I have decided to simply get 24 squares done at this point, the 25th was simply “Merry Christmas” stitched for the top of the calendar anyway, and I feel that it is not necessary now I have reached this point. SO this means we have 4 more squares to go, and then it’ll be numbering, pocket making, and construction time! With this in mind, it is entirely possible that it will  be finished in time! (Though of course you never can tell!)

I am aiming for as close to December 1st as I can, but in this time I do have to complete a second non-christmas piece, and have a birthday, so no promises! Though I will try, because as much as I’ve enjoyed this project, I can’t wait to have the chance to make something new next year! If you would like to see all the squares so far, do check out the album on the Thisisthecraftyone Facebook Page, and there you will also find other stitchy treats too!

Hope you’re having a great week!

Where did the weekend go?

Hi there!

This weekend seemed to go by in a flash of near complete inactivity again! I do have quite a lot on my “to do” list today though, so hopefully it won’t make too much of a difference!

I have been given some motivation though, as (drum roll please)…

This was quite a cool milestone to reach and of course I couldn’t do it without you! Though, if you haven’t hit the button yet, you still can somewhere over on the right of this page, or you can click HERE to see what’s going on!

My aim this week, is to finish all the projects I have been working on lately; 1 cross-stitch project, the mini album. and course, this weeks ABC scrapbook challenge page, as well as sorting out a couple of boxes of photos I’ve been putting off! This might be a little ambitious, but at the same time, I think it’s actually quite “doable” if I spend less time procrastinating!

Hope you have a great Monday!

Tuesday’s To Do List Update

Hi there!

So it is Tuesday and back to “work” for me. I am leaving a very busy craft room (aka the room me and OH use as a lounge) and a long to-do list! This week will be the real test as to whether I manage to use my time wisely.

I don’t have very much to do other than the BIG Project squares, which have taken a lot longer, simply because I need a break from them every now and again! (It’s a lot of work, and when you can’t see the results immediately it’s somewhat frustrating!) I have only got 10 to do now, once I finish the small bits on #14 (which I plan to do this evening) quite an easy job but I am not going to start another square tonight, I’m just going to carry on steadily and see how it goes.

I also have my final bauble project prepped, and want to start that sometime soon. (Though that may be a job for next week) After that I have no other cross-stitching other than the BIG Project.

Also on my list: I have my candle making stuff now which isn’t something I plan on getting massively into I just have loads of wax from candles that I want to re-use because it seems somewhat pointless to throw it away (buying the wick and sustainers cost a LOT less than buying new candles)! It should be a reasonably easy job too, as I have several candle jars now sitting empty! Just a case of melting wax and pouring it into a jar (and yes I do plan on using an old pan).

I also really want to get my scrapbooking up to date (after OH and I went to The Eden Project last week).

And of course the plan this week is to decorate for Christmas! (Is it just me or has this year gone really quickly?!) I have managed to find some great tree decorations and I can’t wait to hang them!  OH and I only have a 3ft tree upstairs here, but it’s going to be fun to have a tree up here too. We’re not going overboard just doing a little decorating up here for the fun of it. And it all needs to be done by the weekend as we are going away Saturday night for OH’s work christmas do.

Just a short one today, as I couldn’t take any photos last night…. I did get a new camera though!!!!! My first brand new camera (that isn’t on a mobile phone) I am so happy! Now it is charged but I am off to work so I will take some photos tonight (to figure out how it works!) of my various homemade bits and pieces!

Are you making anything you’d like to share with other readers here (or on our Facebook Page?) Do leave a comment and share!

I best get moving! Hope you have a lovely day.

Working Weekend

Hi there!

So it is finally the weekend, although I am also up early and out to another day’s volunteering today (really enjoying it too!) so again I haven’t really had much of a chance to get anything in the way of crafting done other than a little cross-stitching in the evenings. It’s a shame really because this time of year gets me feeling all creative, and I just don’t have the time now! I’m just trying my best at this stage! I knew this time would come, it was just how sudden it has been that has thrown me a little!

The progress is pretty slow going at the moment, and I am hoping it picks up again soon. I am now almost finished on square #13 of the BIG Project, which really isn’t as far as I’d like, but I am simply doing as much as I can at this point, and hoping it all gets completed in time! I also have a short days work tomorrow, but I am hoping that I at least get this square finished, and then perhaps even a start on #14 (Something about having 10 left sounds a lot less daunting!) I also want to cut the fabric for my bauble projects this weekend, so that I feel it is a little closer to reality!

I am a big lover of Christmas, and can’t believe that it is almost time for advent calendars and christmas movies! I’m going to be getting more and more excited over the next few weeks! Going shopping for the last of my decorations next week, and OH and I want to have them up before the weekend, as we are going away over night for his work christmas party! (I’ve even ordered a new dress for the occasion, which is a rarity for me!)

Of course before this is my birthday on Monday!!! (Yeah ok I’m excited, it’s allowed!) OH’s mum and I are going out for the day which is really sweet, I didn’t have anything planned really and she suggested it last night, OH and I are going out for a few drinks tonight with friends, but other than that it was a case of “it’s a Monday” and OH is working anyway! But yeah shopping trip!! (I love shopping have you noticed?!) I even got some cards in the post yesterday which is still as exciting as it was when I was little haha!

In other crafty news, I am soon to be trying my hand at something else! (Who’d have thought it) I have ordered some wick and stops for some candle making – more because I have so much wax left from various candles I’ve used over the last few months, that I feel I should use it! And it’s something else fun to try my hand at!

So hopefully there will soon be more to report – and thank you all for bearing with me at this time of adjustment! I hope to be on track with everything next week, now I have things a little more settled and organised!

If you feel like sharing, I’d love people to add a comment and get interactive with the thisisthecraftyone facebook page! Do come and join in – and tell any fellow crafters I’d love it to be a real community on Facebook full of tips and advice and just general fun!! Post some comments, links and photos – show us what you’re up to!

Thanks for popping by, and have a brilliant weekend whatever you’re up to!

Final November Birthday Card

Hi there!

Wow, it is hard to believe we are almost out of November already. This has been a crazy month!

Apologies for not posting yesterday, OH and I went out for a bit of birthday shopping for me (yay!) and as I mentioned the day before (in my last post) all I am now doing at the moment is working on the BIG Project, which is now a slow going process due to volunteering. (Which also went well).  I am however working really hard and hope that it will at least be finished by Christmas so we can enjoy looking at it – even if we miss out on using it this year! I do also have a few other baubles I want to make, which aren’t quite as time consuming, so fingers crossed this will all get done too….

The end of November for me is kind-of marked by my birthday, which is on Monday, though the week ahead of this is one full of birthdays and other events for other people. I have made several different cards this month – something I really enjoy, and love experimenting with.

The final card I am making for this month, is one I made for OH’s Grandad, it is his birthday today and this is it: The lettering at the top was not as straight as I would like, but alas the problem with using peel offs is that once you have stuck them down, you can’t do much about it without risking further damage! It looks good though, and I am proud of the way it turned out. As is OH who has now written the card and sealed it into an envelope!

As for me, I am back volunteering again today, and looking forward to my second day. My evening will be spent dutifully cross-stitching my advent calendar square and also working on a page for my scrap-book! Aha kept that one quiet huh!! OH and I went to the Eden Project on Tuesday, and I didn’t take many pictures, but it was a great afternoon and I want to make a page for it! So hopefully I will find some time to work on this too!  Ever busy!

I hope everyone is having a lovely week, and as ever do feel free to leave a comment to share anything you are working on (links accepted) both here or on the Thisisthecraftyone Facebook Page.
