Dino Crazy Mini Cards

Hi there!

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already, it’s insane, I haven’t done much at all this week! Last night I wanted to do something quick and easy just to get back into things after being away, having not done any crafty stuff other than a tiny bit of stitching. It was then I rediscovered some puffy dinosaur stickers in my stash.

I remember being a big dinosaur fan around 7-10 years old, I think everyone goes through it (I was lucky the release of Jurassic Park was the perfect time for me, though I remember being terrified at the time, but that’s another story!) So the timelessness was why I picked the stickers up in the first place, but then I realised they were pretty small and didn’t really know what to do with them. So away in the drawer they went. Until last night, when I found them, and dug out my 3x3ins cards (from the Just a Little series) and I came up with these:

They’re a little rough around the edges, but I think they’re pretty cool. I had a bit of fun looking for relating sentiments, these were the least cringeworthy of the bunch! If you can think of any others do leave a comment, I have a few more stickers to use!

Other than all this, I’ve penned a to do list for the rest of the month, I will be starting on Christmas projects from the beginning of September, so want to get as much done as possible, including continuing the A-Z Book of Me, which hasn’t been forgotten honest!

Leaf Bead Card

Hi there!

I really enjoyed making this card, it’s so simple but I love the colours! It helps that I have some sort of obsession with bead strings on cards now, but hey, we’ve all got our “thing” right?

The great thing about these cards is they are so versatile, I really liked these coloured leaf beads (salvaged from a bracelet) and using them on a card seemed perfect. I added some turquoise beads between the leaves threaded on embroidery thread…

 I have a couple of scraps of paper that I’ve doodled on (boredom is a wonderful thing) which I wanted to use instead of just throwing them away, and this just had a rainbow of dots around the edge, so I kept the central tag fairly simple. I added the string of beads and then a birthday sentiment.

The card is a bit lighter than this, but yet again it’s been cloudy (so much for summer here in the UK). All in all I’m really happy with this one.

Apologies to those of you who come for the stitching, I’ve taken it with me to Scotland, so expect some updates when I’m back

2012 Olympics Souvenir Card

I’m currently on holiday in Scotland, but I still have a couple of posts for you this week…

We’re into the second week of the London 2012 Olympic Games and I wanted to make a card to keep to remember the occasion (much like I did with the Diamond Jubilee here). This is just as a memento, and will be kept in my memory box (I plan on writing a few things about the event inside).

This was a fairly simple card to make, I found a logo online and printed it off, I cut some union flag ribbon into pennant shapes for the bunting and glued both onto a blue card blank. I then added some lettering (ok, ok, I know it’s in silver) and some spiral patterns, and outlined the stuck on pieces with a black fine-line pen.

A nice simple one but I like it!

Thank You Bead Card

Hi there!

Another busy day for me, though I have managed to get a suitcase out ready for going away this weekend and even put some clothes in it… I’m determined to be packed tonight, I don’t want to leave it until tomorrow, if I do I’ll only be panicking thinking I’ve forgotten something on Saturday morning! Its hard when I’m not really in today and tomorrow, but I know it’ll be fine! Are you more organised when you’re going on holiday? How are you at packing?

I’ve also been busy setting up some posts for next week, which has kind of taken over the rest of my free time (but I don’t mind) and finishing off some other crafty bits, because when I’m back, it’s going to be a case of finishing off anything that needs doing, and by the end of the month I’m going to be working on christmas stuff! (I know it’s early, but I’m giving myself lots of time!)

Today though, I am sharing another Bead Card! (I love making these.) 

This one is a Thank You card 

I’ve had these embellishments for a while now (I can’t for the life of me remember where they came from) And I always liked this tag, (it reads: “Thank you for your thoughtfulness”) the beads were from my -now quite large- stash of beads, I really like these blue ones, they have been threaded onto some embroidery thread as usual.

I found the backing paper in my stash, and I’d already “decorated” it. Boredom and pens don’t mix haha, I made the best of my slightly messy doodling by adding some glittery pen in the same colours, as you can see the left hand side is a bit messy, but it actually doesn’t look too bad in reality. 

I’m off to get on with the day.

One Divine Birthday Card

Hi there!

The week sort-of started without me yesterday, I don’t have much of an excuse other than this week being quite busy and yesterday was the only day I really had to relax all day (and catch up with some stitching). I’m out for at least a small part of every day from now on, and I’m off on holiday on Saturday (At this point I will say there will be some posts next week, I’m not promising more than that! Though I want to have everything sorted for every day if I can.) I just wish it was still sunny, but it’s not meant to be, and the rain has returned! Saying that I did get a bit lazy last week, which is fine when it’s not for long but I don’t know what it would do for my motivation if it was so nice every day! 

On with today though, and I’m sharing a quick girly birthday card I made using Kit N Kraft Vintage Chic papers and stickers (first used by me in THIS POST). I used the same format as I used for my baby cards (IN THIS POST) because I was happy with the look of them. And here’s how it turned out:  I really like this kit, and when I got asked to make a birthday card for a friend, it seemed like a great time to dig it out again. For those that can’t quite make it out, the lettering reads “Hope it’s divine”. I really like these papers, especially because they’re not too girly and pink, I love the text paper, full of girly phrases like “You’ll always be my best friend, you know too much” and “Does my bum look big in this” and loads more girl based things which is good for a giggle.

All in all a card that is fun and bright, and pretty easy to put together (mostly cutting and layering).
