Head on over to my NEW BLOG – Kay Gets Crafty
Hopefully see you there.
Hopefully see you there.
We’re now somehow three weeks into the new year, and I don’t know where the time has gone honestly! I had all the good intentions of posting from the beginning of the year, and then a friend came to us for a visit for new years, and then I was sorting and tidying as needed in the beginning of the year! So here we are!
I have been thinking a lot about what my crafting plans are for this year, and how I was going to use this blog, which was great as a pastime for a year, but posting every day began to be a bit of a strain, as life gets in the way. After getting a lot busier before Christmas and failing (yet again) to complete the advent calendar finished (seriously I’m going to be sick of it if it doesn’t get finished this year!) I have decided to simplify things completely. This is a bit of a long post, do feel free to get a nice warm drink and have a sit down!! I’ve added some links and pics along the way to make this more interesting!
So starting now, my aims for 2012:
And aside from continuing the unfinished:
I also wanted to have a 52 week project, as appears to be the trend these days, but wanted something low pressure, so have decided to look into some to start in February and work back on January when I’ve decided what to do. So any ideas do let me know!!
I am planning on posting/updating a couple of times a week, and maybe more depending on news and time!
Hope you had an excellent Christmas and New Year, and that 2013 is going well for you so far! Aside from here I am also on Facebook if you want to visit, “like” and comment at your leisure, share your page, your blog, or just say hi!
I had the most relaxing day yesterday. I didn’t get anything done, I just spent the whole day not doing anything, but watch tv and films, play my Wii and spend time with OH. It’s got to be done sometime, and if it’s been a while for you, I would seriously recommend it!
Some Travel, stamped fabric stickers from The Paper Loft.
Hot off the press Vacation sentiments from Paper Pizzazz.
I did also get some Scotland based stickers the other day but I’ve totally forgotten where from! Typical right. Along with the things I gathered I should have plenty to make my album, my only regret is not picking up postcards, which is SO unlike me! I really don’t understand it! But I have loads of leaflets from where we’ve been as well as photos and tickets and things like that.
I’m quite looking forward to getting started, so now I just have to get everything together, wait for these bits to arrive and then it can begin! At the moment, I’m planning on using it as a side project when I start working on the Christmas stuff next month… Which seems way too close! I have had a bit of stitchers block recently, and have barely picked up my bear project, but I want to get it done by the weekend, so we shall see. I then have a couple of tiny things to do, which shouldn’t take long even if I do them alongside the “Big Project” as it became affectionately known last year!
So, my plan for the rest of the week, is to get everything together. Organise myself, and get stitching! I also want to dig the Big Project out, because it’s been hidden away for a while now, and I want to make sure I know where I am with it!
What have you been up to this week? Remember to add some relaxing to your to-do list!
I’ve spent a few days thinking about how I wanted to scrapbook my Scotland holiday, and for some inspiration OH took me craft shopping at the weekend. I was looking around, and decided I wanted to try something a bit different!
OH’s Mum has loads of craft stuff, which I’ve been known to borrow on occasion, and I’ve decided to borrow some of her things, along with one thing I bought on Saturday: I’ve never used one of these before, though of course I made my smash book, and so it’s not entirely new to me. Now I just need to get started! My motivation has kind-of flagged at the moment, which is a bit of a pain when I have so much to do. I’m sure I’ll get there though – I always do!
What are your plans for the week?
If you want to do something creative, check out this post, still 2 lucky places left!
Have a great Tuesday
Today concludes my summer feature bringing us to the end of my Summer Saturday Top 10‘s!
Every Saturday for the past Month, (as well as today) I have shared a Top 10 list of creative things from around the net!
This week is “Top Ten Free Crafty Blogs”…In my blogging journey I have stumbled across loads of blogs, and I wanted to use this opportunity to seek out some more! I didn’t want to let anyone know they were going to feature, so I had them bookmarked (and am now going to follow them!) So, here are some new blogs I have been checking out recently! I’d like to point out, I also check out blogs on Blogspot, because I don’t like the idea of missing out on great blogs just because of the platform they choose to use. So these are from both WordPress and Blogspot.
So without further ado and in no particular order, here are my Top Ten:
1: LulaBelle Handicrafts So much variety! Loads to love!
3: Emilies Scrapbook A great scrapbooking blog, with beautiful designs and lots of photos.
5: Chasing Cars Cards cards cards, so many beautiful cards!
6: Helen’s Creative Journal In her own words “…I CREATE STUFF….”.
7: You Sew Should… And you should, just check out the amazing Cross stitched jewellery!
8: Purple Stitching Beautiful stitching, knitting and beading!
This is a post I have wanted to do for some time and never found the right place to fit it in, but considering Saturdays post was on scrapbooking, I thought this could be the week. That coupled with going away made it ideal.
My scrapbook last year was simply layouts of all OH and my days out, I posted it HERE.
This year I wanted to try something different.
I’ve loved Tatty Teddy (Me to You bears) for years, and have quite a collection, and when I saw this scrapbooking set on eBay last year I had to have it! I then set on making bases for a years scrapbook, with three pages per month, and an extra page each for OH’s birthday, my birthday and Christmas. I wanted to incorporate tags and flaps into the book too, so there is a lot of experimentation.
What follows is a slideshow of January to June. (This is a work in progress, I still have finishing touches to do, and some photos to add here and there, I will do a complete showing at the end of the year.)
Hope you’re having a great week.
Quick reminder, as I am away, I will try my best to approve/respond to comments quickly if I can. If not I’m back on Saturday.
Today continues a new feature and brings us to the half way point of Summer Saturday Top 10‘s!
Every Saturday for the past 3 weeks, today, and the next 2 weeks (for now) I will share a Top 10 list of creative things from around the net!
This week is “Top Ten Simple Scrapbook Layout ideas”… and I have been looking around for some simple but cool layouts, I’ve tried to make it a varied selection, and hopefully there’s something for everyone. My inspiration for this post was the amount of people who have said they’ve tried scrapbooking but felt it didn’t work out well. So you never know you might change your mind and want to try out some of these!
I found the designs online in various places as diagrams and photos of layouts, and have re-drawn them myself, so like, they’re by me! I then made them up, using as few items as I could, so you could see for yourself in both 8×8 and 12×12. THEY REALLY ARE AS SIMPLE AS THEY LOOK, and please try to ignore the lack of cropping when it comes to the photos – they are the only copies I have and I didn’t want to ruin them, you can of course crop your own photos at your leisure to get a more even finish, I cannot stress enough that the examples are simply examples.
Here’s what I used: (12×12 and 8×8 cardstock, one sheet patterned paper, some small scraps and long strips of paper, a tag, and magnets in the shape of the word love -our title for the duration and 4 heart shapes and 5 photos of a very small me)!
So without further ado and in no particular order, here are my Top Ten Simple Scrapbook Layout ideas:
