My First Cross-Stitch Magnet

Hi there!

It’s pretty cold here at the moment, and I have a long day ahead, having not done anything of the crafty sort yesterday, what with all the travelling, this is quite a short post.

I did however make something a while ago, as a gift for my “Auntie” and as I was only able to give it to her yesterday, I didn’t want to post it before.

This was cross-stitched from a basic pattern, and I based the colours on her two cats Bobby and Charlie, Even to the point the eyes are blue (though do try your best to ignore my terrible French knots – I don’t think I will ever master those!) and the paws are white! It was quite a fun little project, and something I’ve wanted to try for a while, and definitely will again! The magnet is one of those photo magnets, which you can pick up all over the place! I simply added in the cross-stitch instead of a photo!

I hope you have a great Thursday!

Traveling Day

Hi there!

No craftiness today, as I am shortly off to get a train, to begin a six-and-a-half hour journey to visit family!

I’m actually away for something like 10 or 11 days, which isn’t really affecting anything at all, bar traveling days, because of course I can’t do much stitching or paper-crafting on a train, when carrying luggage! I have got some packed though, and plan on stitching a little series of cards! It’s quite fun, I don’t usually plan to this extent, but the recent posts about cross-stitching for boys and for girls inspired me! Watch this space it’s (hopefully) going to be great!

Other than spending time with family, I’m also planning on a bit of catch up with a few friends too, so I shall be busy at least!

The weirdest thing about this, is that OH and I have never spent a night apart in the 14 months we have been together, so it will be a bit strange! I also haven’t stayed more than a night or two with family in about 10 years, so that’s a bit new too!

I’d better get on and double-check I’ve got everything I need packed!

I hope you have a great Wednesday!

A Peek into My Scrapbook

SCRAP BOOK!

This has been a while coming, but I thought I should do it properly! I have mentioned a couple of times, that I have more than one scrap book, the only finished one however, is one I did earlier this year of my holiday in TurkeyI went with my best friend, who has given me permission (I asked) to put the pics of my scrapbook on my blog, to show you all.

I have said before, that I am a fan of busy layouts. I like to use a lot of photos, because I take a lot of photos (and believe me I don’t use all of them) and I use my books as a sort-of photo album, now I store all my pictures on my laptop!

I would like to say, this is quite a big album, at 30 pages, I  didn’t take a pic of the first page… it has “Travel” written on it in funky letters… that’s it….

The photos in this album, were taken by both of us, I went for a bright cheery theme for the days but a darker theme for evenings to add to the tone (or something):

Page One and Two: The Airport

I did notice here, that I still haven’t stuck in a photocopy of the stamps in my passport… which I want to… (always something)

Also… I am on the left of the photo’s of two of us (by the way)

Page Three and Four: Coach....

Five and Six: The Hotel

Seven and Eight: Beach!

Nine and Ten: Rainy Day by the Pool

Eleven and Twelve: Out with some people we met!

Thirteen and Fourteen: Days by the Pool

Fifteen and Sixteen

Seventeen and Eighteen: Talk of the Town

Nineteen and Twenty: Around the Town and the Hotel Bar

21 and 22: Check out day trip - part 1

23 and 24: Check out day trip - Part 2

24 and 25: Mediterranean Beach... and getting delayed

26 and 27: A Second Last Day

28 and 28: Leaving Turkey and Getting Home

I did put journaling in this book, unlike the one I have done for days out. I was really happy with the way this came out, I tried out a few things, but tried to keep it fairly simple, as I wanted this to be a big photo album for my holiday that I could look back on. I didn’t want pieces falling out and breaking, so I have used a few embellishments, I just didn’t want to use too many. I also tried to use as much scrap paper as possible (it is scrapbooking after all) I did use trimmed down 12×12 sheets, don’t know what collections I’m afraid, most were left overs from old packs and some I got as a bundle in a haberdashery! (Got to love finding unexpected things when shopping!)

My next task this week, is to prepare a layout for my Beaulieu trip, because it’s been a month since we went and I still haven’t done it! So I’ll carry on the scrapbooking theme tomorrow! (Cross-Stitch enthusiasts: Don’t worry I’ll be stitching again soon!)
